  • 5 cups peeled and sliced fresh peaches (about 5-6 medium peaches)
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Pour the melted butter into an 8x8-inch (or similar 2-quart) baking dish, ensuring it covers the entire bottom.

  • In a medium bowl, gently toss the sliced peaches with the brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until the peaches are evenly coated. Set this mixture aside.
